Richmond McDonald’s robbed; 3rd time in less than 5 months

A McDonald's restaurant on Forest Hill Avenue in South Richmond was robbed at gunpoint this morning for the third time in less than five months.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired in the robbery, which occurred at 5:49 a.m. as employees of the fast-food restaurant at 6801 Forest Hill Ave., just across the street from Hathaway Road, were preparing to open the business for the day.

Police said the gunman robbed the safe and all three cash registers before running from the restaurant, possibly heading east toward the Powhite Parkway.

The robber was described as a black male carrying a black semiautomatic handgun and wearing a blue coat, black hat and red shirt.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.

The restaurant also was robbed Oct. 12, when two armed males -- one with a shotgun -- struck at 9:50 p.m., and June 17, when two males carrying handguns struck at 4:14 p.m.

I would suspect that a store employee is involved in these holdups.  Giving inside information.

Every participant in drug court does not return to active addiction or a life of crime. Some of us go on to live productive lives. Drug courts work.

I see nothing from the story that would lead you to believe this is a junky and not a father trying to feed his child.

I’m really sorry I had to read this ‘remark’ today.  That’s it, I’m outta here.

I don’t mean any harm, but if the same place is getting held up over and over again, you would think the owner would invest in some kind of armed security or something. For the money they keep losing in robberies each week, they could afford to hire some off-duty Richmond cops to stand guard.

Although I agree with the sentiment 100% Johnson, I see nothing from the story that would lead you to believe this is a junky and not a father trying to feed his child.  I’m not condoning his actions, just stating the lack of data.

I agree Proud.  There are too many people, too few police officers, and in my opinion liberties would be compromised if we increased our police presence.  It is our duty to stand up and protect ourselves, our families, and our communities.  Stop being lazy people and lets do something about it.

We need to start treating junkies like the threat to society that they are.  Enough of this drug court crap; send them to prison!

Time to shut the place down, before someone gets hurt or killed.
