Fugitive arrested, charged in two fatal shootings in Hopewell

A fugitive whom police tracked back and forth from Richmond to Surry County in recent days was apprehended in Surry and charged in the fatal shootings of two Petersburg men last weekend in Hopewell.

Shawn Wooden, 34, of Richmond was taken into custody Tuesday by a contingent of law-enforcement agencies that had been chasing him since Sunday's killings of Kashif Temple, 24, and Antonio Spain, 22. The two men were found slain in a car in the 2300 block of Freeman Road in Hopewell's Arlington Heights area.

"There was a foot pursuit in Richmond, but [Wooden] got away that time," said Hopewell police Lt. F.P. McQuage Jr. "But then we got word he was down in Surry, and we went down there and they said we missed him by five minutes."

Authorities learned Wooden had traveled back to Richmond, "but we missed him there by a couple of minutes," McQuage said. Wooden didn't elude police a fourth time; he was arrested in Surry, where he has family.

Hopewell police made the arrest with the assistance of Waverly and Richmond police and members of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Wooden was charged with two counts of murder, using a firearm in the commission of murder and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony. He also was served with a grand larceny warrant from Petersburg.

Temple and Spain, the two victims, died of gunshot wounds to the head, according to the state medical examiner's office.

McQuage said Wooden has stayed in numerous locations but told police he lives with a girlfriend in Richmond.

Police have not determined a motive for Sunday's slayings, McQuage said.

"We're still trying to straighten that one out," he said. "It depends on who you're listening to. We're getting information coming in that's all over the place and" the motive given for the killings has varied.

In an apparently unrelated development, authorities confirmed that Temple was a brother of Antonio D. Taylor, 21, who was fatally shot in a car Feb. 21 in Petersburg. A suspect was arrested in that case within days, but prosecutors withdrew the charges in May.

How wonderful it must be to be privileged in America!  Get over the spilled milk, already!  You haters haven’t finished sulking over the 2008 election, yet???  What is it with you people?  Get a life!  Stop worrying about change and what it will bring.  Your biggest fear is the “Redistribution of the wealth!“ Your forefathers are the ones responsible for this big mess, anyway, since you like to point fingers so much.  Don’t think so much time has passed that people have forgotten all the dirt and havoc wreaked on this Country by one George (Dennis the Menace) “W.“ Bush!  It must be nice to live in your neo-con, nutty world!  Go and take your xanax or porzac, or whatever it is that gets you through the days since the election (HAHAHAHA!) You’re all on your way into some serious reality!  There will be no more glory days for you to rest on the laurels of your peoples’ “Old Money!“  Those days are over!  It will soon be survival of the fittest out here!  I hope you are wearing your “Hanes” underwear, that you have been eating “Wheaties” and that you’ve been drinking plenty of “Gator Ade”, because “Baby, it’s about to be on!!“

Peace to all who read this blog.

No worries.  Eric Holder will have these charges dismissed in the name of social justice.
