15-year term recommended in Richmond stabbing death
A woman faces at least 15 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a man last June at the apartment they shared in the Battery Park area of North Richmond.
A Richmond Circuit Court jury deliberated about 75 minutes late last night before convicting Laferne Williams, 44, on a single count of second-degree murder in the June 14 stabbing death of James Foust.
The jury, which also considered charges of first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter, recommended a 15-year term for the second-degree murder conviction, which carries a maximum of 40 years.
Williams is to be formally sentenced by Judge T.J. Markow on May 20, when the judge could impose additional jail time for a probation violation on a previous conviction.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Jennifer W. Sublett said Foust was stabbed repeatedly at the apartment the couple shared in the 2800 block of Montrose Avenue.
Williams claimed Foust, 52, had been abusing her and that she killed him in self-defense.

All lives are important, this case of domestic abuse happens much to often .
Funny how we simply do not care about this case - we let the media dictate what we show concern about. James Foust RIP, but who really cares, his case wasn’t sensational enough. Most people watch TV and see 2 political parties to vote for - pick one and root for them like you would a sports team, whoever they promote for office, jump on board…......
