Henrico mother gets 10 years in failed murder-suicide effort

A Henrico woman who poisoned herself and her twin 3-year-old sons will spend 10 years in prison, Circuit Judge Catherine C. Hammond decided yesterday.

Kellyann J. Wright, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of malicious bodily injury in April after her sons had been found unresponsive in the family's western Henrico County home in October 2008.

In an interview with a county social worker, Wright said she was depressed about her marriage and felt that taking her own life and that of her sons would bring peace.

Wright faced up to 40 years in prison.

Wow amazing how people can’t read. She got 10 years not 40, her age is 41.
Obviously how great for you that you’ve never had to deal with depression or in this case it might have also been an abusive relationship but because she chose to harm her children and not just herself she’ll be basically dead to them anyway. No sensitivity in this society I’m sad to see.

Unbelievable…..there is NO man or person on this earth that would upset me so much as to harm my children.  40 years is a slap on the wrist…..

What a selfish act and how devastating for the little boys. Depression is not something that’s easy to deal with and has long lasting effects for both the person who is suffering and their family but trying to take the lives of children is not the answer. She wanted to bring peace to herself not her sons because she obviously couldn’t have been in a state of mind to determine if her sons had peace or not.I hope her sons do have peace and that she finds the help she needs.
