A Chesterfield County man helped assure his own capture by overdosing on drugs he allegedly stole from his neighborhood pharmacy.

Chesterfield police said this morning they have arrested Aaron M. Trainham, 26, of the 11400 block of Pine Ridge Lane.

Trainham faces multiple charges in connection with the armed robbery of a Rite Aid store Oct. 8 on Courthouse Road a few block from his home.

Police said a masked gunman leaped over a counter and demanded drugs from a clerk before leaving in a vehicle. Rescue workers a short time later found Trainham at his home, overdosed on OxyContin, a powerful painkiller.

Trainham is charged with robbery, possession of controlled substances, wearing a mask in a public place, and a weapons charge.

He has been held in the county jail since his release from a hospital and is awaiting a court hearing.

Actually, datony is correct.  Legalizing drugs makes them easier to control.  Obviously, we haven’t had any success in making the drugs illegal.  And he did also address the big issue, of providing programs to aid the addicts.  The addicts already are using the drugs.  They need help.  Throwing them in jail without providing programs to control their habits just perpetuates the problem.

With legalization, there would still be a black market drug trade, just like we still have bootleg liquor, but it is not like it was during Prohibition.  And we all know how well that worked.

All the money the police spend hasn’t stopped the illegal drug trade.  The suppliers get wealthy, and we have the crime.  Let’s keep the money in USA, tax it, and not export it to the foreign drug cartels.

omg….we are going to have a lot of snow this winter..another crime commited in the county by another county resident and not a city resident? WOW…..okay..enuff of that..while i may appear to make light of things and i am sure that there will be some angry people out there, i would like to address the matter at hand….a lot of these crimes that are being commited in the city as well as the surrounding counties occur because of the overwhelming drug problem. with the economy still in shambles, it only adds to the number of people that are becoming more and more dependant upon substance abuse…many of us out here, including myself, have had family members or loved ones that have had to deal with this type of dependancy at one time or another…what appalls me about the situation though is the lack of good help that is available to many of these people that want to get treatment or want to get detox…..many places wont allow you to get detox if you dont have health insurance while a lot of them only keep you for a day or two….i believe that marijuana should be made illegal, just as alcohol, but regulate and tax it, it’ll put some tax dollars in our pocket and out of the weed man’s pocket lol…may sound funny, but from an economic point of view, it is probably a shot in the arm that the economy can use…but many of these other drugs, heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycontin, meth, etc..the addiction is so powerful that most people cant deal with them alone, there needs to be more resource programs available to these people because most of them wouldnt dare committ certain crimes, but that ‘drug’ will have u doing all sorts of things…..

Indeed! The problem, of course, is that there are so very many deserving candidates for the Darwin Award!
