Seven suspects arrested in series of robberies, attempted robberies

Richmond police yesterday announced the arrest of seven people in eight robberies or attempted robberies this month.

Arrested were:

• Kevin Wade Koch, 45, whose address was unavailable, was charged in an attempted robbery in the first block of North Plum Street on June 15.

• Corey Lee Davis, 21, of the 3200 block of Chamberlayne Avenue, was charged in a June 12 robbery in the 2000 block of Lakeview Avenue.

• Jermaine Deshawn Lewis, 27, of the 5400 block of Willow Grove Road, was charged in a June 9 robbery in the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard.

• Shelton A. Privott Jr., 35, of the 1200 block of Georgia Avenue, was charged in a June 14 robbery in the 2200 block of West Cary Street.

• Kenneth Canamore Jr., 25, whose address was unavailable, was charged in robberies in the 2900 block of Kensington Avenue and the 2700 block of West Grace Street on June 21.

• A 16-year-old boy was charged in a June 16 attempted robbery in the 2100 block of Riverside Drive.

• David Morse, 28, whose address was unknown, was charged in a robbery Saturday in the 3500 block of West Cary Street.

"It makes the Third Precinct and the city safer by a wide margin," Third Precinct Cmdr. William C. Smith said of the arrests.

Police have made no arrest in two shootings of store clerks on Jefferson Davis Highway in South Richmond this month. One of the shootings was fatal.

But authorities said there have been no reported business robberies along the Jefferson Davis corridor in more than two weeks.
