Police investigate early morning South Richmond stabbing

A 25-year-old man was stabbed early this morning outside a South Richmond restaurant, authorities said.

Jose Mendez-Vasques was stabbed in the chest and abdomen in the parking lot of Amigos Restaurant at the 6800 block of Midlothian Turnpike, said Richmond Police Capt. Linda Samuel. He was taken to the CJW Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, she said.

Samuel said the stabbing occurred about 2:10 a.m. Police had no immediate details on what led to the stabbing. The suspect is at large.

The stabbing occurred in the Southside. Why do we even ask WHY the stabbing occurred? Someone got bored, got a knife, saw someone and thought he walks funny. You never know what psycho lurks in the Southside. A disappointing city for VA.
