Suspect arrested in shooting of teenagers in Gilpin Court

Richmond police have arrested a man who was wanted in the shooting of two teenagers in Gilpin Court on Monday.

Shawn Jeahvon Singleton, 32, of the 6900 block of Merriewood Ridge Drive is charged with malicious wounding, using a firearm in a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon. Police said Singleton surrendered yesterday evening without incident.

On Monday, police received a call at 3:50 p.m. about a shooting on St. John Street and found a 13-year-old female and an 18-year-old male, each of whom had been shot in the leg. The victims were taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
