One of three suspects in an assault and robbery last night in Richmond's Carytown business district was arrested after two witnesses chased the suspect.

Richmond police Capt. Scott Booth said the woman was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew after the attack, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Cary Street.

The woman, who had just gotten off work at a nearby business, was walking to her car when she was confronted by two males and one female, Booth said.

The trio assaulted her, took her purse and fled on foot, but were chased by two witnesses, helping police arrest one of the three, Booth said.

Police were seeking the other two suspects today.
