Bond set for Richmond woman in death of 2-year-old son

A Richmond Circuit Court judge today set bond at $40,000 for a woman charged in the death of her 2-year-old son, who appeared malnourished.

Judge Clarence N. Jenkins Jr. also set Nov. 18 for the start of a two-day jury trial for Ashley C. Williams on charges of felony murder and child neglect.

A grand jury on Monday indicted Williams, 24, for the death of D'Sean Williams, and she was arrested later in the day.

On May 30, authorities responded to a medical emergency call at the home occupied by Ashley Williams and her son in the 1900 block of Newman Road in the Fulton area. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, authorities said.

Williams faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted of both charges.
