More than 300 people turned out to mourn Wazira Harris this afternoon at St. Paul’s Baptist Church.
“I can think of no tragedy in life as great as the loss of a child,“ the Rev. Lance D. Watson told a gathering of family members, fellow students from Highland Springs High School and friends.
The 18-year-old Harris, who was pregnant, was shot to death April 27 in a Highland Springs apartment complex while leaving a scene where fights had broken out. Two area men, one 19 years old and the other 23 years old, were charged in connection with her death.
She was scheduled to graduate next month from Highland Springs, had recently received certification in cosmetology and dreamed of being a nurse.
