UPDATE: State Police identify man in fatal crash on Chippenham Parkway

State police have identified the man killed during a pursuit Saturday evening in Chesterfield County.

Police said Ervin Brower, 27, of Richmond, was trying to elude a trooper who had initiated a traffic stop. The pursuit, which lasted about 10 minutes, began on northbound Interstate 95 just south of Chester about 8 p.m. and the crash occurred on southbound Chippenham Parkway near U.S. 1.

State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Chippenham Parkway, causing Brower to lose control of the motorcycle. Brower, who police said was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

No law enforcement officers were injured in the pursuit, Molnar said.
