FIRST Robotics Competition NASA/VCU Regional

When: today and tomorrow, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Siegel Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, 1200 W. Broad St.
Admission: The event is free to the public.
What: The competition challenges high school students, working with professional mentors, to design and build a robot as a solution to a technical engineering problem that changes each year. Teams have six weeks to conceptualize, design, build, program, modify and test a robot for competition. In this year's game, called "Lunacy," robots are designed to pick up 9-inch game balls and land them in trailers hitched to their opponents' robots for points during a 2-minute, 15-second match.
