School candidates speak at meeting

Ten of the 18 candidates for Richmond School Board appeared last night at a Richmond Council of PTAs meeting at J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School.

Two write-in candidates joined them at the North Side school in the second and final all-inclusive appearance before the November election. They took turns offering two-minute stump speeches, then answered questions from the audience.

All of the candidates were invited, and the floor was also open to any write-in candidate.

Seventeen of the 18 candidates showed for a Richmond Crusade for Voters forum during the summer. That was open only to qualified candidates.

City Council member Chris Hilbert, whose 3rd District includes Stuart, moderated the forum.
