Values Institute of America announces essay winners

The Values Institute of America has announced the winners of its "Value of Sports" essay contest.

Colin Smith of Moseley was the first-place winner. Second place went to Anna Kuno of Midlothian, and third was awarded to Logan Dawkins of Moseley. Honorable mention recipients included: Abby Portyrata of Midlothian, Calan Pillow of Glen Allen, and Roman Jones, Parker Lamb and Christopher Salentine of Fork Union.

The Values Institute of America, based in Richmond, is a nonsectarian, nonprofit corporation whose mission is to develop strong moral and ethical cultures in communities throughout the U.S. The essay contest was open to children ages 10-13.
