Marian Wright Edelman, president of the Children's Defense Fund, will speak Friday at the second annual Great Expectations Education Forum.

The forum, which begins at 10 a.m. at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, also will feature Virginia first lady Anne Holton, who will be the moderator for a panel on foster youth.

Great Expectations is a program of the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education that seeks to raise awareness about the challenges facing Virginia's foster youth.

The forum is free, but registration is required at http://www.greatexpectations.vccs.edu.

I hope they address foster care and DSS abuses to children and their families.
Ann Holton and Gov.Kaine ignored our reports of Giles County Dept. of Social Services abuses to our children and that prompted me to investigate further.
Why is the Gov. wife such an advocate for foster care?  Why does Virginia receive more than most states for foster care and adoption ...almost 2 Billion $$$) in federal funds? Who regulates the local dept’s. because the Ombudsman is not an office it’s just a fake office with a name but no funding?  Do that many Virginian’s have complaints about foster care , family courts, VDSS, GALS, Judges, CASA all of which are corrupt?  Where is the investigative journalist because I have a lapfull of material to give to you to expose this?
