Police investigating Prince George crash

The investigation is continuing into the multiple-vehicle crash in Prince George County on Monday that killed a New Hampshire woman, Virginia State Police report.

Kamala St Germain, 75, of Hooksett, N.H., died when her car was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer, police said. Two women were also injured and flown by helicopter to VCU Medical Center.

Also, two men died from injuries they suffered separate crashes on Wednesday:

  • Stanley R. Chapman, 32, of Chesapeake was traveling west on Mount Pleasant Road, one-tenth of a mile east of Doolittle Avenue in Chesapeake, when his car struck a tree at 7:39 p.m., police said. He died at the scene.
  • Police were unable to determine whether he was wearing a seat belt.
  • Philip R. Hottle, 23, of Woodbridge was a passenger in a car that was traveling east on state Route 5990, just east of state Route 645 in Fairfax County, when it struck a tree and partially ejected him at 12:40 a.m., police said. He died at 1:05 a.m. at the scene.
  • Police were unable to determine whether he was wearing a seat belt.

    A total of 759 people have died on Virginia highways so far this year, compared with 963 as of the same date last year, state police said.
