A Richmond woman was killed yesterday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 in Richmond.

Barbara Jean Simmons, 67, died at the scene of the crash that occurred shortly after 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 69 and the Chesterfield County line, authorities said.

Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the other car, Betsy N. Locke, 71, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., was charged with reckless driving, said state police Sgt. Tom Cunningham.

The car Locke was driving veered into Simmons' car, forcing it into a wall and causing it to turn over.

Locke was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, Cunningham said. A passenger in her car also was not hurt.

"Drowsy driving likely played a factor," Cunningham said. -- Reed Williams
