The Exit 76 ramp on southbound Interstate 95 south is now open after an earlier granite and fuel spill from a tractor-trailer wreck, the Virginia Department of Transportation says this afternoon.

The wreck was reported shortly before noon at the southbound ramp to Belvidere Street.

No injuries were immediately reported, but the 18-wheeler overturned, and the first officers on the scene said the fuel tank had ruptured, spilling diesel at the scene.

Authorities also said the truck had spilled its load of several tons of granite over a wide swath of the road.

This happens at this same off-ramp every couple of months. When is VDOT going to do something about this?
