The voice of former Defense Secretary Robert S. McNamara, one of the architects of America's involvement in the Vietnam War, can be heard through the Presidential Recordings Program at the University of Virginia's Miller Center for Public Affairs.

The program focuses on the study, transcription and analysis of the secret White House recordings of six American presidents, with a special emphasis on the Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations.

McNamara, the Miller Center said today, was "one of the most frequently recorded participants in the conversations."

The Miller Center's Web site includes audio files, transcripts and more about McNamara.
