Pre-inauguration shows set
Musicians were vocal and visible in their support of Barack Obama during his campaign, and now many of them want to celebrate the president-elect.
On Sunday, "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial" concert takes place during the afternoon, and HBO will air two hours of the concert from 7 to 9 p.m., making it available to all cable and satellite TV viewers, even those who don't subscribe to the channel.
Artists expected to perform include Bono, Garth Brooks, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp, James Taylor and Usher. Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Denzel Washington and Martin Luther King III will read historic passages.
In other TV specials leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday and Tuesday's inauguration:
Today, 7:30-8 p.m. WWBT 12 -- Inauguration Preview special anchored by Sabrina Squire and Aaron Gilchrist.
Tomorrow, 8-10 p.m., WUPV Channel 65 -- "We Have a Dream Special." Profiles of African-Americans including Obama, Tiger Woods, Sidney Poitier, Quincy Jones and Halle Berry.
Sunday, 9-11 p.m., NBC -- "Saturday Night Live: Presidential Bash."
Sunday, 7-9 p.m., MSNBC -- "Yes We Can: The Barack Obama Story," repeats 10 p.m. to midnight.
Monday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., CNN -- "From MLK to Today," a report on the American civil-rights movement.
Monday, 8-9:30 p.m., The Disney Channel -- "Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future," a concert honoring military families hosted by Michelle Obama, Jill Biden and their families. Performers include the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Bow Wow, Billy Ray Cyrus, Keke Palmer, Usher and Shaquille O'Neal.
