Nude hiking day takes off
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - For a few outdoor enthusiasts, the first day of summer is Naked Hiking Day.
The summer solstice this year is tomorrow. Father's Day.
Rangers and police warn that people caught nude outdoors could be charged with indecent exposure.
"It's just rude," said Brian King, spokesman for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. "People are out there hiking with their kids and families."
Law enforcement authorities say they see few nude hikers and don't consider it a big problem.
