Ohio firefighter who killed his dogs loses job

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A firefighter sentenced to 90 days in jail for killing his dogs has now lost his fire department job.
Columbus Public Safety Director Mitchell Brown said today that he has decided to terminate 43-year-old David Santuomo on the recommendation of the fire chief.
The firefighter pleaded guilty last month to three misdemeanors, including two animal cruelty counts. Prosecutors say Santuomo tied his two mixed-breed dogs to a pipe in his basement and shot them in December so he wouldn't have to put them up in a kennel while he went on vacation.
A spokesman had said the fire department received thousands of messages demanding that Santuomo be fired.

I AM GLAD HE GOT FIRED!!!!!!Pets show a lot of COMPASSION for people-they will give their life to save a humans. Especially they show priority to save their owners- I am sure that is why he had them at his house. In return he goes wants to go on vacation so he KILLS them? As a firefighter- a lot of times pets are in burning building- so he lets them die too? He does not QUALIFY AS A HUMAN!! He should have the SAME done to him!!

tie him up to the same pipe and shoot him. kill the poor dogs because you’re going on vacation and cant put them in a kennel? are you serious?? WHAT A SICK SICK PERSON!
Where PETA at? And everybody that was bashing Mike Vick for animal cruelty when this man just shot his dogs because he didn’t have anywhere for them to go while he was on vacation?? Be for real. He deserves what he gets!!!
