House votes strict ban on abortion subsidies

WASHINGTON (AP) - The House has voted to prohibit coverage of abortions in a new government-run health care plan that Democrats want to compete with private insurers.
The 240-194 vote was a blow to liberals who would let the Obama administration decide whether to cover abortions in a government-provided insurance plan. Sixty-four Democrats joined 176 Republicans in favor of the prohibition.
The vote was on an amendment to a Democratic-written bill to provide health care insurance coverage to 36 million Americans who don’t have it now. The amendment also prevents private insurers from covering abortions for anyone getting federal subsidies to help pay their premiums.

Is it a fact that our tax dollars already provide some of the support to Planned Parenthood? I believe human life deserves a chance. God’s will is life. A woman’s body was designed for birth. Fact is, if this life was only about us and what we wanted it would be a sad life to live for. Even in the bad circumstances God has showed me good that comes from it. Every life has a purpose to fill. Who are we to play God’s role in deciding life or death. I wish this bill truly protected from the support of abortions. After reading further into it. I am afraid our tax dollars already support organizations that perform abortions. My intent for writing this is not to criticize another one person’s beliefs or values. Only to gently leave thought and challenge a change of heart to those who support it. God Bless to all!
Health Care is now no longer a doctor/patient relationship. It is now a doctor/Big Government relationship. Surely treatment will be rationed, although not immediately. The elderly have to be denied treatment as they will no longer viewed as productive citizens by The State.
A woman’s right is now the business of the government. An unforeseen administration in the future who opposed abortion will use the PelosiCare power grab to ration abortions in the name of cost cutting.
Nancy Pelosi and Democrats just laid the groundwork to ending abortions in America.
Those junkies addicted to power are so desperate to steal from the private industry they have no idea what they just have done to end a woman’s right to make choices regarding her own body.
Although a Jerry Falwell may have lobbied against the entire bill, he is probably smiling with the power this bill has just handed a future Conservative administration to control abortions in the future.
... and the award for the most insincere post goes to (drum roll, please)... Dr. Hoagie!!! Anything to further the Republican name brand, though. Right?
If the moral dictatorial wing of the Republican party had their way, they would outlaw abortion in any circumstances (but you keep the government out of their pocketbooks!!!). However, the House recognized some people’s moral objection and included language which would exclude any criticism from that crowd. At least you would think. Now, we get to hear complaints that aren’t even representative of their real opinions. There’s an internet specific term that applies to that practice…
This blurb is completely misleading. it was agreed, almost from the beginning that the public option would not pay for abortions. What the last minute amendment did was force private insurers in the “exchange” from doing what many of them already do: cover abortions. The original compromize was to allow insurance companies to decide if they would cover abortions and let people choose the insurance company that best served their health needs. The amendment - which the insurance companies opposed - says no tax dollars will go to pay for public or private insurance coverage for abortion - even though the Supreme Court ruled long ago that abortion is a woman’s legal right. Talk about socialism.
Wow, the Democrats threw women under the bus!
Womens Rights just took a HUGE hit from Big Government.
The Republicans have for decades looked for ways to eliminate or lessen the frequency of abortions. But classic Democrats stopped them.
Now the Neo Marxists faction of the Democrat Party do an about face and seizes control of a women’s body.
Who woulda ever thunk?
