Fla. GOP members shoot Muslim targets at gun range

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla.  — South Florida Republicans held a weekly meeting at a gun range, shooting at targets including cut-outs of a Muslim holding a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

The GOP candidate to replace U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz fired at a full-body silhouette with “DWS” written next to its head.

Wasserman Schultz declined comment, but the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee called the Tuesday event “extremist” and “sexist.“

Robert Lowry, who’s vying for Wasserman Schultz’s seat, initially described his target as a joke. Minutes later, he called it a mistake.

Others refused to apologized for the Southeast Broward Republican Club event, featuring assault rifles and handguns. A conservative activist said they should stand up for their beliefs in the heavily Democratic county.

I am surprised that the TD would run such a BLATANTLY racist article.  So- the figure is carrying a weapon- must be a Muslim, huh?  In your ivory tower, do you even REALIZE what this reporter did?  I rather doubt it- but peace be on you.

I’ve been at events where the so called “peace loving” people were.  They pushed, shoved, cursed, hit and acted like criminals.  They were obviously emotionally disturbed.

Don’t forget the recent incident where the Obama healthcare supporter bit the finger off of a man they mistook to be an Obama healthcare opponent.  Turns out the guy was an innocent bystander seeing what all the commotion was about.  Either way the “peace loving” individual bit his finger off!!

There are lots of different printed targets including turkey posters.  Do we need to call PETA.  At least they are staying in practice with their weapons like responsible adults should.  And sadly enough, criminals actually practice more than the police and gun enthusiasts do according to data collected in the past.  There were some George Bush targets out at one time, too, but I’m sure you liberals don’t want to fess up to who might be behind them, would you?  Peace loving?  I’ve been at events where the so called “peace loving” people were.  They pushed, shoved, cursed, hit and acted like criminals.  They were obviously emotionally disturbed.  I support their exercise of their rights to defend themselves and whatever targets they choose to use I don’t care as long as they act responsibly which they did.

A gun range is the closest you will ever see a GOP politician get to a battlefield.

By this statement I’m assuming you have an argument for the democrats being closer to the battlefield?

Weird how a majority of our military personnel are republican and vote republican, even when they are sent to war!

The article doesnt describe how the targets were identified as “Muslims,“ but only the dumbest Americans think we are in a war against “the Muslims.“

hahaha is brilliant.  Considering the KKK is almost entirely sourced from the Dems, having arisen in the deep south by leading Democrats (see Nathan Bedford Forrest) after the Civil War.  Before the 1960s, almost all African Americans were in the GOP due to this and Lincoln’s affiliation.

Also worth noting is the overt anti-black racism of the only violent governmental overthrow in US history, when the good Democrat gentlemen of Wilmington, NC forcibly removed a legally-elected black and white Republican administration from power (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilmington_Insurrection_of_1898).

Nice revisionism, joker.

Irresponsible article by the RTD. Where did they get that the target was in fact a Muslim? (because they wanted it to be?)

We blast persons dressed like that holding RPG’s away every day. What’s the problem?

“What’s missing from this story is whether the Republicans actually hit anything.“

Umm… Zing.  Take that.

Besides the childish ‘DWS’ label next to the target, what’s the problem here?
