WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is set to sign an extension of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS bill.

The legislation currently provides care, treatment and support services to nearly half a million people, most of whom are low-income.

Later Friday, the president meets in the White House Situation Room with the Joint Chiefs of Staff to discuss Afghanistan and Pakistan. Vice President Joe Biden is expected to attend, along with all the major players except Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who’s on a foreign trip.

Before signing the Ryan White bill, Obama will get his regular daily briefings and meet with senior advisers in the Oval Office.
