Where can I get an envelope to push? And a box to think outside of?

I am pleasantly surprised and relieved that Creigh Deeds won the nomination for his party, as he was the only Virginian of the three. Now I eagerly await a debate between him and Bob McDonnell before we choose our next governor.

Remember back in the 1960s when the Beatles said that they were bigger than God? People who were outraged formed Beatles protest gatherings and either burned or crushed their records in protest. This week, the so-called neutral Newsweek magazine's editor, Evan Thomas, said President Obama is "sort of God" -- and we do nothing? Where is the outrage? What happened to us?

Lately, I've seen a boy about age 13 walking home from Lucille Brown Middle School along Blakemore Road in the afternoon, and I observe him stop at a city wastebasket and remove any glass bottles. He looks both ways, then proceeds to smash them in the street. I have observed teenage boys urinating in public next to the trees along this same route. None of them try to hide what they are doing. All of them think that no one sees them. Zero self-respect and amazingly stupid.

It was sad to see President Obama overseas quoting from the Quran, when our own valedictory speakers are not allowed to quote from the Bible. Pitiful.

I'm astonished that the president made no mention of radical Muslim terrorism in his speech to the Egyptians for 50-plus minutes. He quoted the Quran, but what about Scriptures from the Bible? By the way, it was the American military that freed thousands of Muslims from oppression and worse. Is this a replay of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain or President Jimmy Carter?

Diplomatic pressure? No. Economic sanctions? No. Military action? No! The best way to deal with the North Korean threat is to have our ambassador call their mothers bad names at the U.N. and send the New York Philharmonic back in to soften them up. Then we can sit back and observe as dismantlement of their nuclear facilities begins within days.

The president has now committed billions of dollars to Muslim and U.S. relationship initiatives. Last week he told the world that we were "out of money." Does anyone else see a problem here?

Now that Creigh Deeds has won the Democratic primary for governor of Virginia, the first thing out his mouth is that he is going to try to clean up the mess created by President Bush. Has he forgotten that the last two governors of Virginia were Democrats? Look at the mess they created.

Must we wait until gasoline is $4 a gallon again before offshore drilling is again mentioned? It should be done now.

Books, movies, newspapers, and TV all remind us of D-Day and WWII. But generations need to be reminded more often of what those men experienced in combat on land, sea, and air. Those men gave us our freedoms today.

Mary - I agree with your statement aout Creigh Deeds. You know, it’s easy, as both he and Barack Obama have discovered, to kick a guy who pledged to be quiet after he left office. I don’t respect anyone who wants to continuously kick a guy who won’t fight back and doesn’t want to fight to begin with.
WHAT? Ernest Irby didn’t have anything nasty to say about Republicans for this week’s 2 Cents? Is he on vacation? Is he under the weather?
