From what I can glean from the recent gubernatorial election, more money still needs to be sunk into education. I found this hard to digest at first, as an inordinate sum has already been spent to get our schools up to par. Then I found myself sitting in class for 45 minutes while someone tried to fix the outdated, substandard technology that Chesterfield calls a computer. Maybe the schools could use some extra dough.

Don't the Democrats realize that the big snow job they created with universal health care legislation might just ameliorate global warming to the point of making cap-and-trade legislation moot?

What is it with President Obama and Attorney General Holder? The detainees (Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, et al.) in Cuba are nothing more than war criminals -- and yet they will now stand trial in a New York court, with our constitutional rights and a circus show. This is clearly a matter for a military tribunal. Has this administration forgotten the justice served in Nuremberg, Germany, for the Nazis at the end of WWII? At least in a tribunal, these war criminals would have a speedy trial and execution of sentence. This administration appears to not have endeared itself to our finest, the military. I guess that politics is more important to them than national security. How sad.

Thank you, President Obama, for signing the hate crimes law expansion covering sexual orientation. As a gay American, I can now be assured that if I am attacked just because I love another man, I will not be treated as a third-class crime victim.

If anyone is wondering why the Obama administration and the fringe media are trying so hard to make the Fort Hood shooting all about a nut case, it's simple: If Fort Hood is considered a terrorist act, that means that we have witnessed our first major terrorist act on U.S. soil since 9/11. Eight years of zero activity on our soil has come to an end. The problem is that it occurred on Obama's watch. The strategy is to ignore the facts and paint a picture of a troubled individual rather then a follower of Allah. Plan B is to blame Bush!

Nancy Pelosi said that the new health care bill would be our Christmas gift. Is she unaware how politically incorrect "Christmas gift" is? It will be our "Winter Solstice celebratory gift."

It doesn't matter where the 9/11 terrorists are tried, as long as they get the death penalty.

The talking heads of TV are criticizing Sarah Palin for believing in creationism. I would like to point out that the only thing we know about the missing link is that he is still missing.

The fact that they are holding the terrorist trials in New York is a crime in itself. I agree with Sen. John McCain that a military tribunal should try the terrorists.

There is a disease that has spread like wildfire in America. It causes lapses of memory at traffic lights, slows down automobiles, and causes untold millions of auto wrecks. The disease is called cell phonitis. Got one in your car? Please use it wisely.

Hate crimes legislation is a sham.
As an example, let’s say there are two brothers, one is gay and one is straight. Both are murdered on the same day - one brother because he was gay, the other because he was at the bank during a robbery gone bad. So, we’re to treat the murderer of the gay man with more severity than the murderer of the straight man at the bank? Sorry, that’s not what our justice system is all about.

Exactly! We are slipping down the slippery slope of having protected classes of citizens with so-called rights not afforded to all. A violation of the constitution and bill of rights. We have a system of “equal justice for all”, not just some.

Randy says “The Islamic terrorists who attacked our country should be tried by military tribunal.“

Randy also says that giving the prisoners the full rights of the American criminal justice system is foolish. What if they are acquitted in civilian court after having access to information obtained during the discovery process? Anyone see how THAT could play itself out? What if they’re acquitted because they were not advised of Miranda rights?

Randy says “The Islamic terrorists who attacked our country should be tried by military tribunal.“  There have been three such military tribunal cases so far.  One person was sent to Australia to serve 9 months and the other two were aquited!  How about that for harsh justice for our enemies?  I think KSM would like either of those options.

12steprevenge, thanks for that great link!  What a great way to start a Sunday morning, I am still laughing as I write this.  You have given me a great gift that keeps on giving as I can go back to this source whenever I feel the need for a good laugh.  If it wasn’t so outrageous it would be sad and further proof that a mind is a terrible thing to waste!

The Islamic terrorists who attacked our country should be tried by military tribunal. They should not be subjected to Miranda rights and should not be allotted the benefits of the rules of discovery which would grant them access to top secret information regarding the techniques used to affect their arrest. These individuals were not arrested by law enforcement, they were captured by the military who should have jurisdiction over the matter.

Hate crimes legislation is a sham. A gay man who is assaulted should be granted the same level of justice as a heterosexual man in a court of law. Nothing more and nothing less. A criminal who commits an assault should not be given more of a penalty based on the sexuality or color of a crime victim’s skin nor any less.

Somebody tries to beat me up and, if they live through their attempt, should go to prison regardless of my sexuality, regardless of their motive, regardless of my skin color and regardless of the hate in their heart.

According to Mr. Elam, “The detainees (Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, et al.) in Cuba are nothing more than war criminals”  They may not be more than war criminals, but since there was no war when the 9/11 attacks occured they are not equal to war criminals either.  If they were at war with the USA, which country did they represent?  Look at the nationalities of the hijackers and see which of those countries was at war with us at the time or which of those countries did we subsequently go to war with in retaliation?  The first time the WTC was bombed by criminal terrorists they were captured, then tried and sentenced - IN NEW YORK!  They are now rotting away in jail with nobody wailing and wringing their hands about how dangerous their presence on US soil is to everyone.  The best thing we ever did for the fanatics that hate us, is to show them and the world that we were so afraid of them that we were prepared to throw away all our principles, ignore much of our written constitution, ignore international law and hide these people away in a place that our laws don’t apply.  I thought our nation was founded on the rule of law and that we had some backbone.  How come we feel so confident that we can shoot and bomb other countries towards a better government when we show such little respect for the abilities of our own?

Jim Seay- Perhaps you’re right and evolution is pure conjecture. This makes more sense, definitely:
