Politics: The Guns of August

» 6 Comments | Post a Comment

As noted above, some conservatives are outraged by the appearance of baton-wielding individuals of the political left at a Philadelphia polling place. But conservatives seem far less worked up about the appearance of right-leaning individuals showing up with firearms at town halls and similar public events.

Liberals are outraged by the town-hall gun-toters. Most could not care less about the truncheon-wielding Black Panthers in Philadelphia.

Selective outrage is universally hypocritcal.

Reverend, I think it’s possible that falling subscription rates have more to do with people like you who have stopped buying the dead tree newspaper in favor of the free online version, rather than the editorial decision to not embrace people who choose to bring assault rifles to political debates.

... And they wondered why I cancelled my subscription.

There is a HUGE difference in someone exercising their right to bear arms, and someone welding a baton against voters with whom he disagrees.

Carry a gun holstered may intimidate some, but not all. If a man with an unsheathed baton, open, comes at me angrily? That’s a threat. Plain, and simple.

To not see the difference in the two shows the changes in the Editorial staff at RTD to be out of touch with the common values of the community it deems itself a part. It also explains their dropping subscription rates.

Not only is the Obama administration covering up for the ‘jerks in Philadelphia’, his Justice Department
iss getting ready to open a CRIMINAL investigation into the men and women inside the CIA who have kept all of us safe for the last eight years.
Is that what you call CHANGE?
Why are the details of this story not on the FRONT PAGE?

There is a big difference. Nobody’s defending the jerks in Philadelphia.

First, the gun incidents happened in the Phoenix area, and as long as the weapons were registered the people carrying them broke no laws. These people most likely didn’t carry these weapons just to the rally. They carry them all the time; therefore, no threat.

Carrying a baton at a polling place says either you’re going to hit the button with the baton, which couldn’t be because you can’t carry anything into a polling booth with you,, or your trying to threaten people to vote one way.

The baton incident is FAR worse than the gun incident.

Carrying a gun is a constitutional right.Theres no proof those gun toting individuals were all ‘right-wingers.‘No laws were broken.
Voter intimidation, last time I checked is a violation of the law and a violation of someone else constitutional rights.
Selective outrage? Hardly.
How about selective enforcement by the Obama administration and selective coverage by the so called main stream media.
