Remembrance Day

Today Americans will pause to remember. Eight years ago jihadist terror struck the homeland. The Twin Towers fell. The Pentagon burned. A field in Pennsylvania became ground as hallowed as Gettysburg.

Of all days, today will not be one for words. There have been enough. There will be more. So much of the argument disquiets. Sept. 11, 2001, has become one of those exploited events which every side cites as proof that it was right, and continues to be. All this does is to mock the dead.

There are better ways. As the first responders raced toward the World Trade Center, priests and chaplains took confessions from heroes who knew they would enter the burning fiery furnace and not return. They gave the greater love. Plaques on stations throughout New York record their sacrifice.

Honor them, and those who died trapped in the infernos or as hostages aboard planes, not with speeches but with prayers. Let us preserve silence, and salute the flag.

God bless America. America bless God.

Well written. However, I cannot fathom why we would fly the flag at half staff for Ted Kennedy and not do the same for the 2,000 + victims of this attack. In my opinion they were braver and made a greater sacrifice then he ever did. America does the victims a dis-service by not making this gesture.

AMEN! Nuff said.
