Rush to Judge
Rush Limbaugh should not be surprised. As someone who stokes controversy -- often via personal ridicule -- surely he expected the reaction to reports he belonged to a group interested in buying football's St. Louis Rams. He should not be surprised by the outcome, either. The affair qualified as farce from the get-go. Given the cast of characters, how could it not? Limbaugh probably will receive a ratings boost.
Limbaugh provokes and makes a lot of money in the noisome process. Football ownership would establish him among the company of Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones, Al Davis, and other worthies as esteemed as the Knights Hospitallers.
Various serious players, as well as assorted blabbering malcontents, objected to the prospect. During his aborted stint in the broadcast booth, Limbaugh alleged sportswriters and other cheerleaders boosted Donovan McNabb because they joined the league in wanting an African-American quarterback to succeed. He cited no compelling evidence to back up his fanciful assertion. Black QBs had flourished before McNabb joined the Philadelphia Eagles. In any case, McNabb rates as one of the premier players of his era, and slanted coverage has had nothing to do with it.
The National Football League takes itself very seriously. One of these days it indeed may win the Nobel Peace Prize. Its secretary general -- oops, commissioner -- expressed his reservations regarding Limbaugh's rhetorical propensities. A scion of the family that stabbed Baltimore in the back by moving the Colts to Indianapolis under the cover of surly night vowed to vote against Limbaugh. Al Sharpton volunteered his views.
Fellow fans, it does not get any better than this.

You might remember the car dealer who made International new for his promotion giving away AK47s with the purchase of a Truck.
He’s back in the news again and this time it doesn’t involve guns, but there’s definitely a political statement being made.
This same car guy is now protesting against the NFL because of the whole Rush Limbaugh/St. Louis Rams ordeal.
Saw this on CNSNews. You can find more information on the story there.

Just wanted to pass it on, I thought it was interesting.
Thanks,

Does anyone see the irony in Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson calling ANYONE a racist.
Could anyone imagine the backlash if either Rev Al OR the Rev Jesse Jackson were denied buying into the NFL because they were controversial.
How about Keith Olberman of MSNBC being a broadcast announcer for the NFL.Isn’t he controversial?Doesn’t he make incendiary remarks about conservatives on a nightly basis?
Yes he does.
This double standard is inexcusable.
Limbaugh’s comment about McNabb was accurate,IMO.It was tantamount to the media fascination and adoration of Obama.Didn’t that have to do with Obama’s race and the intrigue of the ‘first black president’?What’s the diff?
If I was Rush I’d suit somebodies rear end off.
A 20 year subscriber. That is some accomplishment. That speaks volumes of a newspaper that has the appearance of being fair and balanced.
I barely made it a year, if not only a few months of subscriptions to the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Washington Post in my various stops along the line.
I am, however, on a several year run as a subscriber to the T-D and have yet felt compelled to cancel.
Once again I find the Times Dispatch falling on the wrong side of an issue. I was a 20 year subscriber and canceled 3 months ago for editorials exactly like this. You have taken up your spot in line to beat on the Rush pinata like all the other media.
A league goes through ethical contortions to put proven thugs on the field to improve the bottom line, but caves in to rhetorical extortion for something a person didn’t say but was only rumored to say. Meanwhile, another celebrity is allowed to be a partner in a franchise even though lyrics in one of her songs defends enemies of the U.S. That’s ok. That’s politically-correct. I’m tired of politics. Everything is political. Sports are becoming the same. I’m getting tired of them too.
