Tax dodgers: Find’Em

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Here's one quick-and-easy way to help solve the state budget crisis: Track down the tax dodgers.

Virginia is owed $1.4 billion in past-due taxes. If it could collect all the money in arrears, it would be about halfway toward closing the fiscal shortfall.

Gov. Tim Kaine has hired 55 workers to help track down the delinquent accounts. Good. It's a crying shame that the state has to slash programs and lay off workers at places such as the Science Museum partly because some Virginians are -- intentionally or not -- shirking their civic duty.
