Intellectually Feeble Or Morally So?
Editor, Times-Dispatch: The editorial, "Against Liberty," was correctly worded but incorrectly used. Liberty University, in living up to its religious standards, is censured by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) for doing so, while Notre Dame is lauded for abandoning its principles for the sake of a short-lived feather in its cap in encouraging a sitting president in his abortion views -- which are antithetical to the beliefs of the Catholic Church -- by awarding him an honorary degree for speaking at the university's commencement exercises.
Abortion is a method of making easy profit for doctors and a matter of convenience for promiscuous parents -- both mother and father. To deny someone the right to life based on convenience and profit is a heinous act according to almost any religious holy book one might care to mention. It is the ultimate denial of liberty.
One has to conclude that NAS, as well as the ACLU, and this newspaper, in approving the view that Liberty University is intellectually feeble, are all against our most basic liberty: the right to life. I would rather Liberty University, or any other institution of higher learning, be called intellectually feeble by name-callers on the left than to see them as morally feeble as is Notre Dame. For when one acts against principle, one truly acts against liberty.

SSWO9 - The Bible doesn’t tell you what to do in modern times? Well, as best I can tell, it’s still wrong to lie, steal, murder, cheat on your wife and gossip. It’s also wrong to lead people to do the wrong thing. “Modern times” are over rated especially since we can’t even master the fundamentals of decency with each other.
“Easy profit and promiscuous parents”. It is clear that Glenn has absolutely no idea what he is talking about when it comes to abortion and the “right to life”. Besides the fact that it is not convenient for anyone to seek an abortion. It is a private very difficult emotional decision that is sometimes a life saving act on behalf of the person who is carrying the fetus.
Stop judging Glenn and start supporting real sex education that way we can somehow stop all of these “intellectually feeble” discussions about religious books leading the way. Last time I checked the bible or any of those other religious holy books did not describe what to do in modern times and modern life.
