To Win Drug War, Just Buy the Stuff
Editor, Times-Dispatch: A recent news item states that the U.S. seized 16.5 tons of opium in Afghanistan. The same article reports the Senate voted 86-3 in favor of $91.3 billion to ramp up war in Afghanistan.

On the front page of

The Times-Dispatch's

Insight was a very interesting report on Afghanistan producing 90 percent of the world's opium (8,200 tons) valued at $3.4 billion to Afghan exporters.

Why not take $3.4 billion off the $91.3 billion and buy and destroy the 8,200 tons? John Shinholser, President, McShin Foundation.
