300 sailors deploy from Norfolk

NORFOLK — The amphibious dock landing ship Oak Hill is leaving Norfolk with 300 sailors on deployment through August.

The Navy says the sailors leave Wednesday, heading to South America with the goal of strengthening partnerships with other nations.

The Oak Hill will conduct naval and amphibious operations with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Uruguay in support of the U.S. marine Forces South exercise Southern Exchange 2009.
