Va. road wrecks are fatal to four

Passengers not wearing seat belts pushed the state's highway death toll to 211 over the weekend, 50 deaths fewer than last year on May 3.
In New Kent and Tazewell counties, passengers who police say were not wearing seat belts were thrown from vehicles and later died.
Jordan Lee Hendrix, 19, of Williamsburg died Saturday at 1:48 a.m. in New Kent when a car he was in ran off the left side of state Route 634 near Woody Lane and overturned.
In Tazewell, a Richlands woman died Saturday at 6 p.m. when the car she was in overturned on state Route 67 2 miles north of U.S. 460 and rolled several times before ejecting her near a steep embankment. Jessica Ann Baker, 25, was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
Juliette Rosette Letang, 33, died Thursday in Newport News when her southbound car crossed into oncoming traffic on state Route 143 and hit another car head-on, police said. Letang, who lived in Yorktown, was wearing a seat belt, police said.
Larry Wayne Smith II, 22, of Broadway died Friday in Rockingham County shortly before 5 a.m. when his vehicle left state Route 789 and hit a tree. State police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
