Bald-eagle nest sites in Va. listed online
You no longer need an eagle eye to find the nests of our nation's symbol.
The locations of all known bald-eagle nests in Virginia are available on a Web site developed by the Center for Conservation Biology at the College of William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University.
"We believe that breeding sites may be better protected in the long term if they are known to the public," the center said in a statement.
The center wants Virginians to report nests that don't show up on the site.
Airplane flights to find nests revealed that the number increased this year to 612, up nearly 5 percent from 584 last year.
The James and Rappahannock rivers were the top breeding areas.
In 1977, there were just 33 eagle pairs in Virginia. A federal crackdown on pesticides, among other things, helped bring the birds back.

Hey Howard - why do you have to call someone running a website “dumb”. Sorry the people can’t meet your demands. Maybe your are the idiot who can’t operate things correctly - I had no problem accessing any of the pages.
Donk: or it could be that whomever is running the website is as dumb as a flareside truck. Perhaps the RTD bloke has his wits about him and is forwarding this information. Again.
Website is a great idea but totally buggy. Simply doesn’t work.
You can get to the website, just not to the page where the location of the nests are
I just checked the link provided and it worked. Very interesting.
I googled the website and was able to view the location maps.
What a screwed up website. Doesn’t work at all.
Can’t wait to see if they know where the nest is of the huge bald eagle that just missed flying into my car on Rt. 1 on the Caroline County/Spotsylvania County border.
We have reported the issue using the contact e-mail on the VaEagles site. We’ll leave the link live so readers can access other information there while a fix is being worked on. Thanks for your patience.

Even though our curiosity is peaked, don’t look for it to get fixed on the weekend.
