Man shoots self after killing two, Prince Edward sheriff says
FARMVILLE -- A Pamplin man who officers said killed his wife and a man in the parking lot of a Prince Edward County nightclub before shooting himself remained in critical but stable condition yesterday.
Sheila Anderson Carter, 46, and Mandel Brandon Jones, 35, of Dillwyn were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds early Monday morning, said Prince Edward County Sheriff Travis Harris Jr.
The shooting took place in the parking lot of New Fever's, just outside Farmville, Harris said.
Deputies arrived to find Sheila Carter and Jones lying on the ground. They found John Thomas Carter, Sheila Carter's husband, sitting in his vehicle with the door open, Harris said.
Lt. David E. Eppes, with his weapon drawn, ordered John Carter to show his hands and move away from the vehicle, Harris said.
Instead, Carter exited the vehicle with a shotgun in hand and shot himself in the face, Harris said.

This is bad for Farmville. And what is really bad is this night club is right at the public schools. Farmville Police do a great job and they did all they could do. No other police dept. could have done anything different and what was done was done. People who don’t like here don’t understand and if you do live in this area you are aware that nothing good comes from that night club.
