A Ridgeway woman faces an attempted-murder charge and two men face assault charges after a fight at a Smith Mountain Lake campground, authorities said.
Bedford County deputies were called to Eagle's Roost campground on Smith Mountain Parkway in Huddleston Saturday about 10:30 a.m. for a report of an assault, authorities said.
Two women were in a scuffle at the campground. When one drove away, she nearly ran over someone, authorities said. The woman who stayed behind told deputies she had been hit in the head by the woman driving the car, the release said.
Also, a man at the campground told deputies that a male passenger in the car hit him with a beer bottle, authorities said.
Deputies later stopped a car matching the description on Smith Mountain Lake Parkway.
The driver, Sandra Mikles, 40, of Ridgeway was arrested and charged with attempted murder, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, assault and battery, and conspiracy to commit malicious wounding.
Her passenger, Jeremy Burgess, 18 and also of Ridgeway, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.
A 17-year-old male passenger in the car, also of Ridgeway, was arrested and charged with assault and underage possession of alcohol.
Mikles and Burgess are held without bond in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. The 17-year-old is held at the Lynchburg Detention Home.
