Alert issued for motorcycle gang after Dinwiddie man killed by officers
Area law enforcement agencies began issuing alerts this evening that a motorcycle gang may be organizing to exact retribution for the shooting death of a Dinwiddie County man earlier today.
A Richmond police department bulletin warned that members of the Pagans motorcycle club are forming in nearby states and may be traveling to the Richmond area.
The broadcast bulletin said that some sort of revenge may be sought against agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives or local law enforcement.
The bulletin warned officers to stay clear of any member and to call for backup.
Earlier today, a man identified in the bulletin was shot and killed as federal agents and others attempted to serve a search warrant in Dinwiddie County. The man, identified by state police as James M. Hicks Jr., 45, was taken to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, where he was pronounced dead, said state police Sgt. Thomas Molnar.

These motorcycle gangs (not clubs) mean business and don’t care who you are. I remember years ago when a whole gang was wiped out here in south richmond, there real and will do whatever for there gangs.****
suz,
would you be referring to the Walmsley Ave murders? there were 6 people killed in that house, but only THREE of them were members of the ‘newly formed’ Invaders club (I THINK that was what they were calling themselves) I personally knew 3 of the 6, and I could have been there when that happened myself. just worked out that I was not, thank GOD! I also remember that one of the dead members was an ex-prez of the CAs…
When you steal from others sometimes it gets you DEAD!
HuffieVA I agree no matter what or who you are if your on a motorcycle you’re “classified” Not all bikers are bad. The sad part is people automatically call a Biker a bad thing if their on a Harley. They get stereotyped before you know them. Tv has over the years give a perception of a biker as a Bad Person who is always going to cause harm. Thats just wrong all the way around. There will always be bikers no matter what. Many of the people who ride that I know do a lot of good for the community as a whole and they are as they put it a gang but a good gang. There is more on this whole ordeal (I am sure of) that cannot be leaked to the public for specific reasons that we will probably never know.
Barney Fife wetting his pants and then kicking in your door can produce fatal results. The man was executed because he was a Pagan. What’s wrong with calling a guy on the phone and informing him that his house is surrounded and giving him the option of not dying. How about arresting him and treating him to a beer at the White House. I guess the police did not behave “stupidly” in this situation. Welcome to the new america.

So this is what happens when classified bulletins get out to the general public? It’s like the military people, there are hundreds of classified information reference safety concerns that come out daily. How often do you see them in the media? See why?.....
Just what Richmond needs…more rebels without a clue. Do the police not already know there are a ton of ignorant, uneducated Pagans already living in the Richmond area?? As for the idiot who said he’s shoot at the cops too, cool. Then they can save another 100k like they did on this guys trial by gunning you down too. They were not serving a standard warrant if their were federal agents there as well. They were not swat they were ATF…aka someone was selling illegal firearms…and you wonder why they went in quietly. As for the whole “bust down the door and serve the warrant” comment. Really?? I’m guessing you have seen just a bit too much CSI on tv because real gun dealers KNOW you’re coming and they’re ready to kill any cop that steps on their property. Real criminals are a little more paranoid than the lazy ones you see on tv and I seriously doubt that the guy was just going to give up and come along quietly.
Huffie,
There is a difference between what you refer to as a “club” and what a I refer to as a “gang”. I do know of motorcycle “clubs” that do a lot of good in communities, but I also know of motorcycle “gangs” that do harm to communities.
It all comes down to this…not all bikers are thugs, drug dealers, cold-blooded killers, pimps, and so on; however, THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE!
It is extremely difficult for the average person or cop to be able to tell the good from the bad…so there are some characteristics that are KNOWN to be “BAD”...if any innocent biker decides he wants to “play” THE ROLE OF A PAGAN OR A HELLS ANGEL for fun…dresses in the black leather, tattoos him/her self to the ultimate in black leather, wears the chains, the bandanas…GUESS WHAT…the average person and the cop will make a judgment on appearance ONLY because that is the FIRST IMPRESSION!
There are a lot of bikers who do a lot of charity work for many deserving organizations (mostly children oriented) and so before anyone passes judgement on the cops in this particular situation—-KNOW THE WHOLE STORY!
badger,
I couldn’t be farther from the libertarian you describe, what happened to innocent until proven guilty, and by the way that is in reference to the “call for backup on sight” comment from the article…
rukiddin,
Please allow me to enlighten you, motorcycle clubs will always be forced to face a certain stereotype, there is no doubt that certain members of various clubs operate outside the law, but not all. Guilty by association has led to many convictions of innocent people. I personally have a problem with that. That being said please explain how labeling a group of people by there membership in a club, is any different than labeling people by their nationality?
