Alexandria police chief accused of DUI has no plans to resign

ALEXANDRIA — The attorney for Alexandria Police Chief David Baker says his client “has no intention to resign.“
Baker was charged with drunken driving after he was involved in a car accident in Arlington over the weekend.
Attorney James Clark says Baker “should be held to a higher standard.“ But he says the police chief also hopes to persuade the public that he shouldn’t be judged by “the worst half-hour in his life.“
A criminal complaint obtained by The Washington Post shows that Baker failed four field sobriety tests. About two hours after the accident, he took a breath test that registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit.
The complaint says Baker told police he had drank two beers about 20 minutes before the accident.

he needs to be fired. how can he lead the police department and have his men and women chase drunk drivers… and be one himself! for heaven sake, can him!
Whatever happened to “over the limit, under arrest” that these coppers are suppose to be cracking down on? Hmm…if they cant lead by example then what good are they? I’m just glad that I’m not reading another story of an innocent victim being taken out by some dumb drunk on the road. They need to go ahead and fire this dude.
The worst half hour of his life; was that when he was guzzling enough cheap beer to make his blood-alcohol level .19, more than 2 hours later? Ok, how about firing him for lying about how many beers he had?
He blows a .19 two hours after the accident? That means he was HAMMERED when the accident occurred! Two hours before blowing a .19 his BAC was probably about .29. That’s falling down drunk right there.
I’m just glad he didn’t get “let off” since he was the police chief.
He refuses to resign? No problem he should be fired.
Worst hour of his life? Just suppose he had killed an innocent citizen.
