Danville man sentenced for throwing dog off bridge

DANVILLE — A Danville man will spend six months in jail for throwing a dog off a bridge.

Cecil McLaughlin was sentenced Thursday by Danville General District Court Judge M. Lee Stilwell after being convicted of animal cruelty.

Witnesses said McLaughlin tossed a beagle/Jack Russell mix named Franklin off the bridge into a ravine on July 21.

The Danville Area Humane Society’s shelter manager rescued Franklin, who suffered minor injuries.

Franklin’s owner, Geraldine Turner, had testified at a July 30 hearing that she asked McLaughlin to find a new home for the dog.

Turner is charged with animal neglect. Authorities say Franklin was thin and dehydrated.

Franklin is now in the humane society’s custody and a new home is being sought.

So where is PETA?  I guess since this person is not a celebrity PETA doesn’t care.  They really are a sick sad joke, they don’t care about animals.  They just want the press.

A six month sentence is too light for animal cruelty.

Let’s save the taxpayers dollars and take this creep and throw him off the highest bridge and hope he hits a rock when he lands!

To heck with the 6 months. Dont give him food or water for a week and then make him jump off the same bridge!!!
