ALEXANDRIA — A Centreville man charged with distributing heroin resulting in death has surrendered to federal authorities.

Skylar Schnippel has been out on bond since November, after being charged with giving his 19-year-old girlfriend Alicia Lannes a fatal dose of heroin last March.

Prosecutors say 20-year-old Schnippel gave heroin to another Fairfax County woman in November. They say he also tried to persuade her to lie to investigators about him distributing heroin.

Schnippel surrendered to authorities last week after a judge revoked his bond for asking the witness to lie on his behalf.

Schnippel is allegedly part of a Northern Virginia drug ring that investigators say included former and current students at Westfield High School in Fairfax County.
