Patricia Kluge downsizing, selling Albemarle County estate
Published: November 3, 2009
CHARLOTTESVILLE — Philanthropist and vintner Patricia Kluge has put her 24,000-square-foot Albemarle County house and 300 acres on the market.
The 61-year-old Kluge says she’s selling her Albemarle House estate because she and her husband, William Moses, want to downsize and travel more. She says they’re planning to build a new home on 900 acres nearby.
TTR Sotheby’s International Realty in Washington, D.C., is marketing the estate.
The property includes a library, gallery, pool, pool house, greenhouse, extensive gardens, three stocked ponds, a helicopter pad, stables and staff quarters.
Kluge says she and Moses will continue operating a vineyard and winery and hope to expand the business. The vineyard’s output this year is estimated at about 35,000 cases.

Oh yeah…the helicopter pad. The most important part of the Doug Wilder/Kluge affair of years past when he’d hop on a state police helicopter and fly to C-ville to boink the billionaire.
going from 300 to 900 acres does not exactly sound like “downsizing” to me. Oh, then again, she may be building a 10,000 square foot or so home…....
When’s the open house?
