U.S. authorities examining Southside jail where immigrant died

FARMVILLE — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has suspended placing detainees at the Piedmont Regional Jail and is investigating the facility’s medical care.

The moves follow the Nov. 28 death of 48-year-old Guido Newbrough, an immigration detainee at the jail near Farmville.

According to autopsy reports, Newbrough had an untreated bacterial infection and died of organ failure.

Prince William County contracts with the immigration agency to hold non-citizen detainees from Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia who are awaiting deportation.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Cori Bassett says the agency doesn’t plan to stop using the jail as a holding facility. Bassett says placements are suspended while the agency monitors conditions at the jail.

oh by the way (englishsunset)  I certainly hope you were not born in The United Kingdom, if so you should be ashamed of yourself, if not you still need to read all the facts on this case and not just this article.  The family should receive several million for the neglect of this human being.

For you to in your wildest dreams equate our military in Iraq to an illegal here shows how out of touch you are. Go back to France.

Our facility is under investigation this man’s family should be under investigation!  They should trace everyone connected to this man and deport them immediately!  I sure hope this man’s death is not costing a law-abiding taxpayer his paycheck because this infectious illegal died on American soil!  How injust is that?

Let’s see if you feel the same way if one of men/women serving in Iraq dies under the same circumstances…or did you forget they are non-citizens in that country.  Please try to get a grip even if you have to borrow one.  How Un-american of you to say that..

Let’s see, a non-citizen, in jail, dies of organ failure due to bacterial infections and our institution is under investigation. Had our caring, illustrious government been doing its job this non-citizen (illegal) would have died in his own land. I wonder if there would have been an investigation of any institutions there. Now, stand by for the lawsuits, I am sure the lawyers are already lining up to get a piece of this action.
