VIRGINIA BEACH — A Virginia Beach DUI enforcement officer is appealing his conviction on drunken driving and hit and run charges.

Bryan K. Womble was found guilty Monday following a bench trial in Virginia Beach General District Court. He appealed the verdict to Circuit Court.

Substitute General District Court Judge E.L. Turlington Jr. sentenced the 37-year-old Womble to five days in jail and suspended his driver’s license for a year. Womble also must use an ignition interlock device for six months, attend alcohol safety awareness classes and pay $500 in fines.

Womble was arrested June 20 while off duty. Prosecutors said his vehicle hit another vehicle and didn’t stop.

Womble was part of a team that specializes in enforcing DUI laws. He has been on administrative duty since his arrest.

And tell us all how you would know that the responding officer drives “them” home! You are obviously not law enforcement but just some other person who “thinks” he knows something about the police when you really do not!

It’s really news that there was an arrest because the responding officer usually will just drive them home.

I guess that people in glass houses really shouldn’t throw stones…or is it reaping what you sow?  I can’t remember which axiom fits this scenario best!  The point is, law enforcement officers have a fiduciary responsibility to the public.  If this guy violated that duty, he should have the book thrown at him!
