BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech and the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division have agreed to continue a research and development partnership.

Virginia Tech on Wednesday announced the signing of an partnership agreement with the warfare center in King George County, along with the signing of a five-year, $7.5 million contract.

Virginia Tech says collaborative research already is under way under a memorandum of understanding signed in November 2008. The research includes pulsed and high power electromagnetic technology, ground unmanned support systems and railgun technology.

Virginia Tech and the warfare center have worked together on projects for about 25 years.
