More than 50 businesses will participate in a jobs fair sponsored by Rep. Eric I. Cantor, R-7th, Monday at Clover Hill High School in Chesterfield County.

"In these tough economic times, Virginia's families are struggling," said Cantor, the House minority whip. "We all need to do what we can so people can get back to work."

Cantor said job seekers, in addition to meeting with industry representatives, will have the opportunity to attend seminars on résumé writing, interviewing skills, searching for jobs and accessing unemployment benefits.

Employers scheduled to attend include Alstom, Boeing, Capital One, CarMax, the Central Intelligence Agency, Central State Hospital, local sheriffs and police departments, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Owens & Minor and Wachovia.

The jobs fair will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

I’m no fan of Eric Cantor, but this is a good thing he is doing.
