Health-care Public Square to feature Cantor, Scott

» 2 Comments | Post a Comment

U.S. Reps. Eric I. Cantor, R-7th, and Robert C. Scott, D-3rd, have agreed to kick off the next Richmond Times-Dispatch Public Square, which will focus on the debate over health-care reform.

They will briefly outline their positions, then open the floor to questions and comments.

While legislators statewide have been hosting their own health-care town halls, this unique Times-Dispatch event will bring together two of Virginia's most knowledgeable officials on the subject of health-care reform.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 21 at the Times-Dispatch's downtown offices, 300 E. Franklin St.

Details about parking arrangements and reserving a seat will be announced soon.

To Congressman Eric Cantor.

This event is not a Town Hall meeting and your Metro Richmond area constituents are STILL WAITING for you to hold a open Town Hall meeting.

Why are you refusing to hold a meeting that your constituents have been requesting since May?

Your public demeanor shows you feel very comfortable that you will be re-elected and you do not need to hold a town hall meeting with your employers (Voters). Is this because you consider holding re-election campaign fundraiser’s more important than holding meetings? The Voters think so.

Since May, you have held in the metro Richmond area your Birthday party fundraiser, an “Advisory Council meeting” which is nothing more than your supporters holding a fundraiser and was “paid for by Cantor for Congress” and on Oct. 17th, you will be holding ANOTHER FUNDRAISER under the guise as a “Republican Roundup.“  And those are just the fundraisers for the Metro Richmond area. There are too many other fundraisers that I would like to included in this comment.

Why do you do this Eric, holding fundraisers more than holding Town Hall meetings? Is it because you are the “cash elephant” for the GOP because you raise more money than any other politician? I think so.

Many politicians would like to have your attitude of self-confidence of feeling comfortable politically and receive the “special attention” that the GOP gives you. I am sure this is why you feel very comfortable that you will be re-elected and you do not need to hear from the Voters by holding a Town Hall meeting. Prove me wrong Mr.Cantor and hold a Town Hall meeting.

We the People know one thing about you Mr. Cantor and that is…

ERIC CANTOR WILL TAKE YOUR VOTE and YOUR MONEY TO BE RE-ELECTED, BUT WON’T HOLD TOWN HALL MEETINGS.

WHY?
