Kaine out of Va. for parts of 14 days in October
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine was out of state for at least parts of 14 days in October, according to a travel log that his office released late yesterday.
Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, was in Chicago and Boston on Oct. 15 and returned from Boston on Oct. 16. He traveled to New York on Oct. 20, stayed overnight, and stopped in Washington on the way back to Richmond the next day, according to the log.
Kaine spent part of Oct. 23 in Tallahassee, Fla., before traveling to Miami, where he also spent part of Oct. 24.
The governor traveled to New Jersey on Oct. 29 to stump for Gov. Jon S. Corzine, a Democrat seeking re-election in a tough, three-way race.
Six of Kaine's out-of-state trips were to Washington.
The full list represents "a combination of state work, work in his role as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and personal time," states the release from Kaine's spokesman, Gordon Hickey.
The office does not give further details on how much of Kaine's travel was national political business or personal. -- Olympia Meola
